Becoming CEO [Podcast]

Picture
For some time, Cheryl Pia was running her full service creative agency without direction—haphazardly moving from day-to-day...

... without goals or a plan to grow. But her passion and re-commitment to her business changed everything. In the last two years, Cheryl’s nearly tripled her employees, expanded to three locations and enjoyed tremendous growth.
But first—she had to commit herself to embodying the role of CEO.

This is an interview between my friend and colleague Nick Lawler and one of his mentees and how her coaching journey within her creative advertising agency allowed her to realise her business goals and gain some balance in her life as a whole.

And one of my favourite 'things' is being organised in your work and 'decluttering', not just your physical space but also your work processes, your thought processes. Getting more organised gives you the room to look at your business in a more objective way without getting overwhelemed. Suddenly you can see your future goals and some of the steps you need to take to get you there, and the people workin with you and for you also starts to see those goals and where they fit in.

Some of the key points to think about when getting organised in a modern office is communication, connectivity and automation.
  • What information needs to be better set out, such as customer expectaions or staff responsibilities?
  • What information or files are you and your staff or customer constantly needs access to? Do you find you are wasting time searching for that list of passwords again? Or not able to make a decision there and then because you have brought the wrong notebook?
  • What things are you repeatedly completing that takes up your time that potentially could be done by an online service or a computer?
If this sounds like you then keep an eye out for the Organisation workshops over the coming months.
